My colleague, Dr. Kathy Hastings and I will be leading a workshop at the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education called “Privileged Teachers, Privileged Students; Social Justice?” In this workshop we will be reflecting on our roles as professors teaching undergraduate courses on social justice, while we ourselves enjoy social privilege. We will not only discuss our collective and individual struggles but also share our experiences around awareness of privilege and bias, while also using strategies for implementing critical pedagogy.
